Thomas B. Aufdemorte

Thomas B. Aufdemorte, D.D.S., professor in the Departments of Pathology, Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Health Science Center, died Saturday, Sept. 30, during a trip to New Mexico. He was 50.
Dr. Aufdemorte was chief of the Division of Oral, Head and Neck Pathology. His areas of research interest included bone wound healing and testing of factors to accelerate the processes of healing. Other interest areas included animal model development for the testing and evaluation of the biocompatibility of implant materials, particularly those used in orthopaedic and maxillofacial applications.
A resident of Blanco, he was a 1977 graduate of the Dental School and a 1972 graduate of West Texas State University.
Dr. Aufdemorte is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Christy Flaczynski and Lori Aufdemorte; a stepson, Daryl Burns; and an aunt and uncle, Dena and Mark Fields. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the "John Cornyn Scholarship Award," part of the Dental School Faculty Scholarship Fund. For information, call 567-3071.
