Perce McCurry

Pierce was born on July 9, 1950 in Lubbock to Melton and Mary McCurry. He moved to Amarillo as a child, where he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1968 and then majored in Business at West Texas State University. Pierce married the love of his life Velvet McNeely on June 20, 1970 at Saint Stephen United Methodist Church in Amarillo. Pierce had many professions; including working as a financial officer, managing grocery stores, and serving as President of Absolutely Best, Inc. He was a certified EMT and previously played the violin for the Amarillo Symphony. Pierce was an avid reader, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, jeeping, and woodworking. He loved sitting on the deck of his cabin in New Mexico listening to the wind in the trees and watching wildlife. He was humorous and creative as well as loving and accepting of others. Pierce was happiest when spending time with his family and friends.

Pierce is survived by his wife, Velvet McCurry of Amarillo; mother, Willaphene Fletcher; children, Matt McCurry and wife Beth of Amarillo, Stephanie Hahmann and husband Holger, Katresa DeBault and Brad Finch of Amarillo, Brandon Stennett and wife Lissie of Amarillo, Ryan DeBault of Amarillo, Tanya Weatherly-Strauss of Amarillo; brothers and sisters, John McCurry and wife Diane of Williamsburg, Virginia, Milton McNeely and wife Charlotte of Amarillo, Kathy Fletcher and Greg Lopez of Amarillo, Carlton Fletcher and wife Pam of Amarillo, Lenny Monson of Amarillo, Steve Vaughn of Waco, Darby Reid and wife Debby of San Antonio, Tom Cross of Mobetie; grandchildren, Kristen and Kaelee McCurry, Zach and Saybra Hahmann, Gaven DeBault, Kloi, Jax, and Madox Stennett, Jordan DeBault; nieces and nephews, Greg and Jeff McCurry, Gene McNeely and Kara Green, Greg and Bryan Fletcher, Mike and Mitchell Vaughn, Matt Reid. He was preceded in death by his parents Melton and Mary, sister Twila Vaughn, and son Johnny McCurry.
